Happy Thanksgiving

This has been a great weekend. But, like all weekends, it goes by way too fast!! We spent Thanksgiving with my family. When we got married, we though we would trade off every year between our families, but so far, we have done Christmas with Josh's family every year and Thanksgiving with mine. On Friday, Josh had to work, so Porter and I put up the Christmas tree and decorations. On Saturday, we went to dinner with our friends Erin and Sam and her parents. We went to Temple Square after to see the lights. It was very nice and Porter did great, even though it was cold and he was tired. We all had a great time.

Today was busy! Josh's cousin, Nick, came home from his mission on Wednesday and today was his homecoming talk. We went to that and then to his family's house for lunch. Afterwards, we went over to Jake and Steph's (Josh's brother and his wife) new house. They moved in yesterday and are still in a disary. So, we went to their house to help them. Yes, I am jealous and want to move . . . But that is besides the point.

Porter ran up and down their stairs for about an hour. He loved it. Then, he began trying to plug the cord into the socket and was yelled at by a very scared Jake. Porter had some sparks at the socket and he cried for a good five minutes from being yelled at. Then, he stuck his finger into anothe socket and was yelled at by Stephanie. Another five min. cry session. Where was his mother? you might ask. I was washing dishes. However, I found this picture a good one since after being yelled at, he accidentally bit his tongue. He didn't stop crying from that until we got home and put a bottle in his mouth and put him to bed. I checked his tongue. It had a tiny bit of blood, but he is fine.

Runny Nose

Porter has a cold. His nose is so full of boogers that when he breathes out of his nose, he gets snot bubbles. I try to keep it wiped, but that enduces screaming, hitting and kicking.
Yesterday, I had Veterans Day off from work. My mom came down and helped me clean out our laundry room. It was gross. Last night I dreampt that we were cleaning and found a little nest of baby mice. I swept them into my dust pan and dumped them into the trash.

Conquering the mole hill

Congratulations Porter! He has now conquered climbing out of the portable crib that he sleeps in at Gramdma Ramsey's house! Yes, he has now entered the world of "Free Roam". When grandma Ramsey found him, he had pulled papers off the table, messed with the computer and tormented the dogs.

He is so close to walking. For his birthday, Porter got a kiddy walker that he can push around and walk behind. I took him outside and he was off like a burning fire down that sidewalk with his walker. It is so funny. He is usually screaming as he goes. But, to get him to walk alone . . . impossible. He WILL NOT do it.

At home, however, he is climbing on the couches, ripping books, teasing Chester (the Chihuahua) and I even caught him climbing on the TV stand. However, his near death experience was when I found him sitting on top of his changing table. He climbed from the chair, onto the nightstand and onto the changing table. Soon, I just know he will be out of his crib.

He is so fun, but man, he is crazy!!

Why I never wear my hair down

Often people tell me, "oh, your hair is so cute when you where it down. Why don't you do that more often?" The answer to that is simple. It is because I am hot. I am a sweaty hot girl and wearing my hair down only makes it worse.

Speaking of which, the HOA turned off our air conditioning this weekend. I had to work on Saturday (the day it was turned off) and I promptly walked in the door and marched my sweaty arm pits to the hall and flipped the air conditioner on. To my dismay, I realized that it didn't turn on and I had to continue to sweat in my house. Even with every fan on in the house, I was still a glistening, sweaty mess. I even had to pay money to have the air turned off. So, what lesson did I learn? . . . To wear my hair up and stop some of the sweat.

Oh, and by the way, I have the worst acne I have had since I was 14. Large welty zits that hurt really bad. I am so lucky.

Birthday Extravaganza!

My son is so spoiled. But, I guess that is ok since I know that it means that we all love him. His favorite gift was the electronic book that his grandma Midgley got him. My favorite gift was all the clothes!! I'm sure my love of clothing had nothing to do with it. I love clothes. You know, I haven't bought any new clothes for myself in such a long time. I would kill for a couple new outfits. . . . But, on with the birthday news.

Porter had his one year check up with the doctor on Monday (8-8-08). He got 3 shots. He cried. But, other than that, he is amazing. He is such a smart and active little guy. He never stops, except when he is sleeping.

Here are a few pics. Enjoy.

Dinwoody

I took some pictures of the very cool building that I work in. It is very old. It is called the Dinwoody Building. That is about all I know about the history. However, I do know that it was built in the late 1800's. I hope you enjoy the pics.

On another note, tomorrow is the last day of the month. That means, Porters birthday is next Saturday (September 6th). We are having a birthday party. I sent out invites. If you didn't get yours, please let me know. Call or email me and I will give you the times and addresses. This is a picture of him the day after he was born. It is one of my favorites.

Valium or Prozac? Why Not Both!

Today was my first day being a Zions Bank employee. Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be my first official day. I will be in the Direct Branch. This is a branch that will not have any face to face contact with the clients. I will only be speaking to them on the phone. I am hoping that I will LOVE this job. I had a couple of people who already work at Zions said to me that this branch is where people make all the money. Ha Ha. We'll see.

I felt so old at the orientation. There were about 25 other people there and I honestly think that I was the third to the oldest. The instructer asked everyone in the room who was under the age of 21 to raise their hand. Only about 5 people didn't raise their hand. That made me feel like an old lady. Maybe in a few months I'll be an rich old lady.

Weak Sphincter

My dog, Nikki, has been wetting everywhere! She has been going on the couch, rocking chair, futon and floor. Once, she was just laying on my lap, and it just seeped out of her everywhere. So, I decided to take her to the vet. I made an appointment and the doctor said that her problem in one of three things. It was either diabetes, a bladder infection or incontinence. He took her in the back and did some tests. He brought her back shortly and told me that she had a weak sphincter. This is due to her being an old lady dog and that her poor little sphincter is just tired. To fix this, she will need to be on estrogen to tighten those little muscles up.

This little visit cost me $50. I have to either pay for her hormones or put up with the pee. I wonder if I can just cover everything in plastic wrap?

Changes in the Wind

I got a new calling at church. They asked me to be the Compassionate Service Leader for the condos in our ward. Right now, our ward pretty much consists of 3 or 4 streets that are houses and the rest is all apartments and condos. They have called two people to be compassionate service leaders. One is me over the condos and the other is over the houses and apartments. The counselor in the bishopric told me that the need in our ward is great and that this will be a fairly involved calling.

Josh's brother, Jake got married yesterday at the Jordan River Temple. I posted some pictures of the wedding. The wedding ceremony was so beautiful and Jake and Stephanie looked amazing. It took a lot out of all of us, but it all turned out really nice and the food was great!

Getting My Finger Prints Taken

Today, I had to go downtown to get my fingerprints done for my new job. I also had to leave work early to go see the doctor. Sure enough, I've got the pink eye.

So, back to the fingerprinting. Fortunately, Josh's little sister, Becca, came with me. It was a good thing too. After we stopped at 7-11, we were on our way. As we made our way down the freeway, we were doing great, until that fateful curve when the rancid cheese nachos went flying. We had chips in places that we didn't know existed.

Once we got downtown and drove around for half and hour (trying to find the building that I didn't know exisited) we got the fingerprinting down. Becca had cheese from head to toe and needed a bathroom. So we went to the Wells Fargo building to the bathroom there. It was locked and we had to ask an employee to let us in. We washed and peed and and made our way back to the car. Once there, we realized that Becca forgot her phone at the fingerprinting place, then I realized that I forgot to get validation, then I realized that I had left me wallet. We are dumb! I'm sure the fingerprinting people seriously questioned why Ihad been hired.

It was eventful, if nothing else.

Opening Ceremony

Welcome! I am so happy that you found us! Right now, my life is crazy and I have been having anxiety attacks for the past 3 days. I just found out today that I will be leaving Morgan Stanley and going to Zions Bank. This is really scary and exciting and a huge change! But, I think it will be best for my family.

I will be working part time (25 hrs a week) and my hours will be from 3 to 8 pm. The hours don't make me too excited, but I am so happy to finally be able to go part time and make enough money to be able to do it.

I think I have pink eye. It is red and swollen and itchy and gooey and I don't like it!!
