Fun in the sun

Some fun pics from the last few weeks.
The people I work with bought me this funny cake for my graduation. They are so sweet! I love the website  http://www.cakewrecks.com/ and they copied one of the cakes on that website. I laughed so hard!
Porter found this big box and decided to take a nap in it. Cause sleeping in a box is so cozy (wink, wink).
These next few pics are from Taylorsville Days (my favorite!)
Notice the huge smile and Porter's face and Bryson is covering his ears in the front seat. For Bryson, everything is "woud", aka loud.
 Porter is the conductor.
I'm not sure what Porter is doing, but since we haven't taught him any inappropriate hand gestures, I'm guessing he was trying to do sign language "I love you."
This is from the free concert at the park. It was Niel Diamond (aka Jay White. LOVE HIM!) hmmm, Sweet Caroline, dum, dum, dummmmm .....
These next ones are from the 4th of July.
My darling niece, Aubree, riding Bud. He is my favorite of all my dad's horses. I think he is gorgeous!
Porter on Bud. I asked him if he was a cowboy and he said, "No, cause I don't have a hat." ;)
Bryson on Bud.
Grandpa Dan made this fun barn swing.
After visiting with Grammy Coral we wanted to go swimming, but the pool was closed, so I let the boys "swim" in the backyard.
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

Graduation: Associates of Applied Science RN

A moment like this
Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this
Some people search forever for that one special kiss
Oh, I can't believe it's happening to me
Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.
Perhaps that song is about meeting the love of your life. But, I remember when Kelly Clarkson won American Idol and sang that song. It was all about the moment and that is exactly how I felt today at graduation!
Below is was the pinning ceremony. We received our school nursing pins and we were given a moment to speak. I shared an experience I had just this past Mother's Day. I was working in the ER with my nurse and we had a patient come in with chest pains. He had a heart attack there and despite the best efforts of the nursing staff, he passed away. His wife stood there, just outside the door and watched her husband die, on Mother's Day. That was a pinnacle point for me and I realized just how important this career is. So many other things in this world cloud our minds with worry and concern, but in reality, our lives and the lives of our loved ones is more important than anything else we have.
Joshua was the person I chose to pin me.
No celebration is complete without the right accesories ;) These are the glitter shoes I bought.
My necklace and the school pin we received.
My friend Launa did my hair.
This is my graduating class.
My niece Aubree.
Here we took the Nightingale Oath in order to be a sworn nurse.

Obnoxious

I'm sorry that I haven't written for so long! I have been so busy. For the last 8 weeks I have worked Mon-Fri and had 12 hr clinicals on Sat and Sun. On Memorial Day weekend I worked 36 hours at the hospital and did 40 hours of work at the bank. It has been so exhausting! But.... I am graduating on Thursday!!! I can't wait to be able to say that I am a nursing school graduate. All I have to do now is pass the state nursing boards (SCARY!!).

Last night I was laying on my bed with the boys and I turned on my little lamp so I could write in my journal. Porter was laying with me and was just about asleep. When I turned on the lamp, he sat up and glared at me. I said, "What's wrong?" He said, "Mom, I think it is really obnoxious when you turn on your lamp when I am trying to sleep!" I told him, "Then go sleep in your own bed!" And I tried not to laugh! Why does my 4 yr old know the word "obnoxious"? Silly kid!
