Spring

We are very excited for it to be spring and since the weather has been nicer we are taking advantage of it. We went to Wheeler Farm. It wasn't nearly as busy as when we went last October, but we still had fun! As you can see in the picture, it as nearly deserted.

This turkey was in love. We took a picture of him in full feather and left before the mating calls became effective. 

Who needs a dinner plate when you can stand inside your hay bucket? 

Bryson loved the chickens almost as much as he love splashing in the mud. 

The lambs were my favorite.  

This week in school the boys made paper bag puppets. Tonight they gave us a puppet show. 

Most of the pictures came out blurry from the rapid movement and over abundant singing of twinkle, twinkle little star and itsy-bitsy spider (or as Porter says ipsy-ipsy spider). 

Byrson's puppet turned into just a paper bag. That was because Porter decorated it for him and Byrson pulled off the eyes and tongue. Bless his heart.

Death of a Sippy

Bryson narrowly escaped death this evening... Let me explain. I bought him a new sippy that has a pop top because he accidentally spills his drink at the dinner table EVERY night. This evening, after dinner, he took his sippy (filled with red juice . . . . do you know where this is going?) downstairs. While Josh and I were in the bedroom he proceeded to splash it everywhere, carpet, couch, my crochet stuff (including very expensive yarn for a baby hat I am making) and clothes (he told me that he was pretneding it was blood). When I found him I almost lost consciousness. This is the WORST thing either of my kids have done so far..... Knock on wood! Oh, and yes, I threw the sippy in the garbage along with all the juice!

December: 31 Days of Service

I have been so busy! I am now working full time at my job and for about 4 weeks we were all working mandatory overtime (good money, crappy hours). So, as I believe better late than never, here are our pics from our month of service. You will notice right away that "someone" doesn't like to have his picture taken.

Here was our calendar. Each day they pulled off a number and on the back it had the service written on it.

We donated a book to the library.

The library was having their own service oriented theme where you could tape a heart on the grinch if you did service. 

We made a donation to good will. We went to Savers. Their donation area is in the back of an alley where homeless people and drug addicts live (also the same alley behind the condo where we used to live.) The boys were scared and cried until we left the alley. But, don't worry! Our donation was made! 

 

We left money in an envelope for someone to buy a drink and taped it to the drink shelf at the store.  

Bryson taped it on. 

We made treats for Porter's primary teacher and sang her a Christmas carol. Porter dropped the treats on the ground on her porch as he tried to hand them to her, but his sweet teacher was nice enough to "eat" them anyway ;)  

We cleaned windows. 

Brought the trash in from the street. 

We bought a bottle of water for a grocery store clerk. 

Porter informed me "I don't smile for pictures mom." I took it anyway.

We took treats to pre-school. 

 We left $2 dollars on a car window with a note to buy themselves a treat on us. 

We gave our AWESOME preschool teacher a gift certificate. 

We brought a grocery cart in for someone at the store. 

We left a thank-you note and treats for the mail lady. She told us that no one has ever done that for her before.

We made a "present" for Grammy and delivered it to her. 

It was a scary present... a giant green spider. 

Frightening! 

We cleaned the upstairs toilet for Auntie Becca. 

There were other service things we did, but I didn't get any pictures. It really helped us keep the spirit of Christmas and the boys LOVED it! Everyday it was an argument over who got to do the service. It's a tradition we are excited to do again next year!
